Arne Slot Maintains He Is Secure and Has The Club's Support After PSV Defeat

Arne Slot conceded that it was natural for questions to be raised about his position after another convincing loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their ninth loss in twelve games, marking the club's worst run since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league champions on a difficult evening at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I have got a lot of backing from management,” the coach commented.

“It's important to change things and earn three points of course but when you're coaching a team and not doing well then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I'm comfortable with my role. It is not the first time I’ve been in a tough spot but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”

Talks with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to expand on his discussions with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot said:

“We communicate frequently. They are supportive to the team and for me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me all the time each day to say they back me.”

He further stated, “Through standard exchanges I perceive the confidence. But I've not talked to them after this defeat so far so let’s see.”

Persistent Issues and Player Reaction

Slot highlighted recurring failings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, namely missed opportunities and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more forthright in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the answers. Honestly, I don’t. I’m saying that to all,” the midfielder stated.

“It is unacceptable. I don't have to wait to think about it. I'm beyond feeling anger inside. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He went on, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the team I support. I’m a fan, and I've watched Liverpool since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team going through a period of this nature with results like these.”

Jones concluded, “However we continue to wear that badge on our shirts. And until that badge is taken away, we’re always going to fight.”

“We will attempt to get this team back to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all again the values of this club and the reason it's called the greatest side in the planet.”

“But right now, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
