The former Liverpool manager states coming back to coach Liverpool is theoretically possible.
Jurgen Klopp, who departed from Anfield in 2024, remarked that rejoining the club remains something that could happen. The 58-year-old, post a game-changing nine-year spell that included a European Cup triumph and the Premier League crown for three decades, has since taken on positions overseeing worldwide football within the Red Bull organization and in an advisory capacity with the German Football League.
Supporters’ Hopes and Klopp’s Candid Remarks
They secured the league title under Arne Slot, but many fans holding him in high esteem would welcome the idea of his potential comeback. Speaking candidly, he explained to his interviewer: “I declared I will never coach another team on English soil. Therefore in case it's my former club...absolutely. Theoretically it’s possible.”
“I’m 58, that means I might decide in a few years, it's uncertain. Do I have to make the decision today? If so, I wouldn't return. Fortunately, no such pressure exists. I can just see what lies ahead.”
Conditions for a Comeback
Pressed on which situations must arise to draw him back to management, Klopp admitted he isn't eager for a comeback. “I'm not entirely sure, My present work fulfills me,” he commented. “I don’t miss coaching; I avoid standing during downpours for lengthy sessions; I don’t miss going to interviews four times, three times a week or having 10-12 interviews each week.
“I don’t miss the dressing room in that context, yet sharing a meal with the players enjoying conversation, I appreciate that. With many victories meaning regularly great spirits around the place. Remaining with me is the captain's chuckle in my ear as an instance.”
Commending Arne Slot
Klopp was full of praise for his successor, praising him for the tweaks that won the league in the previous season. Liverpool have lost a string of losses in all competitions following significant transfers, but he rubbished the suggestion of it representing a slump.
“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker like Florian Wirtz, you will all eat your words with negative comments. A remarkable prospect. The French striker, superb talent. They have a strong thoughtfully assembled roster. Fans shouldn't fret regarding the Reds, they will be fine.”
Heartfelt Words for Diogo Jota
Klopp also spoke emotionally on the loss of Diogo Jota, whom he brought in while in charge, along with the consequences at the club. The Portugal international died tragically in a vehicle collision with his brother this past summer.
“Who can fill the void of somebody like Diogo? This isn't just regarding his on-field talent, his personality mattered. It's hard to picture the team environment absent his presence. Putting it into words is tough about it. A devastating blow for the entire squad as well. No one within the club will ever use it to justify results yet it's the reality. You walk in a dressing room where he was omnipresent. Handling this emotionally is not easy. Overwhelming.”
